Who will win it?

The English Premiership is on again! This time around, new quality additions were made by many teams ranging from Arsenal to Wigan (A-Z of the premier league, since there is no Zenit St Petersburg here)! Other than additions of new players, team jerseys were modified to show that it is a new season. Playing pitches were upgraded to world-class levels.

Visuals and opening montage for the Barclaycard sponsorship of the league are greatly improved upon compared to last season. What’s more? The League Board held pre-commencement meeting for the referees and captains of all the clubs. This is to smoothen relationship and perceived misunderstanding between all parties.

Not long ago, the premiership was the exclusive preserve of Manchester United and to a lesser extent Arsenal. Within them, the two teams won eleven out of twelve premiership trophies. Then, out of the blues came one Jose Mourinho, who bulldozed his way into the elite class and in so doing won the premiership back to back before the old man of the league, Sir Alex Ferguson got it back (again).

Again, the three teams mentioned above remain the usual suspects except for the ‘small matter’ of Liverpool that has threatened over the past few seasons to challenge the ‘status quo’. However, it might seem that their ‘luck’ is more suited to the Champions League where they have remained a permanent fixture over the past four season winning it once and losing two years later. They were bundled out by a Didier Drogba inspired Chelsea in the semis last season.

Lets us not forget the new money bags of the League: Manchester City, the team from the blue side of Manchester who had lived under the shadows of its more successful rival across the region- the red devils in Old Trafford. Need we any reminding that they are the current European champions?

What about a glut of new players at Tottenham Hotspurs? The likes of Roman Palyuchenko, Giovanni Dos Santos, Vedran Corluka, Mejan Gomes and the potentially greatest among them; Luca Modric arrived over the summer. Though they are yet to gel but when they do, we might be looking at power shift in north London!

Everton, Portmouth and Aston Villa have always managed to qualify for Europe. But can’t they do better than this?  It is as if they are tailor made for the sixth, seventh, etc positions. Did I hear you say Blackburn Rovers? Maybe they are more suited to rugby rather than football.

Wigan, Westham, Middlesborough, Newcastle, Sunderland, Fulham, Bolton and the trio of West Brom Abiom, Stoke and Hull should decide among themselves, those that are qualified for the ‘drop’.LOL

So then, who will win it? My gut feeling tells me that this seanson belongs to the Blues from Standford Bridge. Haba!! What about Man U? I think they are likely to suffer this season from their early stuttering start to the league.

Arsenal nko? Hmmmm, beautiful football (exhilarating stuff at times), but injuries at the wrong time again might just cost them dearly.

Liverpool? They will win the champions league again and Robinho will return to Real Madrid- where he actually belongs!!!!
